Project: Does Russia Have Its Own Special Way? Lessons in Democracy
One of the basic objectives of this project — is creating the impulse to discuss the issue of why the democratic development of society is so important for everybody.
The project believes that a weekly, two-month-long TV documentary series could create such impulse. Based on examples of Western countries, the documentary will tell the audience about alternative ways of society development. The planned audience for the documentary is 45 million.
The White Nights Rally Project
The program included a number of events, the main event being an international motorcycle rally across Russia. The rally started in Vladivostok on May 2, 2005, and ended in St. Petersburg on June 12, 2005. Its route took in 20 regions of Russia.
The Road Home Project
The current stage of the project has the following objectives: establishing a permanent social service in Moscow and Cherepovets for working with children and families in crisis situations; exchanging experience and providing training for employees of institutions for homeless and neglected children; monitoring child homelessness and neglect, studying Russian and international experience.
The Liberal Mission Foundation
The non-profit organization Liberal Mission Scientific Foundation of Theoretical and Applied Research was established in February 2000 on the basis of the Economic Club aimed at bringing together liberal economists and creating a site for regular communication between supporters of market reforms. The Liberal Mission Foundation subsequently started assembling at its roundtable discussions not only economists but also leading politologists, sociologists and culturologists.
Gorbachev Foundation Conference Support
In June 2005, Gorbachev Foundation and journalism faculty of Moscow State University held an international conference, Perestroyka 20 Years Later: Glasnost' and Development of Journalism. The topic Glasnost' and Mass Media was discussed by well-known journalists and leading researchers from Russia, former Soviet Union republics, and foreign countries.
The Social Journalism of Civil Society Project
Among the tasks of the project is developing the program and curriculum on social journalism considering specific features of the region; organizing theoretical and practical sessions for journalism faculty students in Moscow, Murmansk, Barnaul, Perm, Vladimir, Ulyanovsk attended by representatives of public organizations; as well as preparing, publishing and distributing methodical material materials on the project results.
