The conference “Young scientists of Russia–2015”

In April 2015, the Dynasty Foundation for the thirteenth time held a conference in Moscow for young physicists, Dynasty grant winners.

Winners of 2015 Dynasty competitions–university and graduate students, young scientists with only an undergraduate degree, and candidates and doctors of science specializing in the area of theoretical physics–participated in the two-day conference.

Lectures and reports:

  • The universe before the hot Big Bang (.pdf, 1,9 MB)
    Valery RUBAKOV
Academician of the RAS, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences
Institute for Nuclear Research (RAS), Moscow
Department of Particle Physics and Cosmology, Faculty of Physics, Lomonosov Moscow State University

  • Cosmic microwave background radiation: Old questions—new answers (.ppt,18,8 MB)
    Oleg VERKHODANOV
Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences
Special Astrophysical Observatory (RAS), Nizhny Arkhyz

  • Modern trends in photonics: Metamaterials and silicon nanophotonics (.pptx, 20,6 MB)

  • Grand unification of neutron stars (.ppt, 8,4 MB)
    Sergey Popov
Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences
Sternberg Astronomical Institute, Lomonosov Moscow State University

Igor Burmistrov (Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Landau Institute for Theoretical Physics, Chernogolovka) and Sergey Popov conducted a master class on how to write a scientific paper. The conference participants also received interesting and useful tips from other candidates and doctors of science.

The participants presented their scientific interests and research results at the poster session.

“The participants had an opportunity to acquaint themselves with interesting results obtained in various fields of theoretical physics—from quantum theory and elementary particle physics to astronomy and the physics of black holes.
The poster session was a good occasion for young scientists to discuss different problems of modern physics in an informal atmosphere.”
Igor Lokhtin, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences,
Skobeltsyn Institute of Nuclear Physics, Lomonosov Moscow State University

In conclusion, physicists played an intellectual game, “What? Where? When?.”

This game was played at the conference for the second year in a row. Last year, the participants liked the format so much that they wanted to play the game again. The game differed from its usual TV version in the use of various counters and possibilities for winning. And this year, the teams also played in pairs (they needed to obtain the maximum results for the pair, exchanging players and experience). The questions for the games were created not only by the members of the EVM company but also by the scientists, the laureates of previous years, and, in particular, Oleg Verkhodanov.

We thank all the lecturers and participants in the conference and also the EVM company!
