The 2015 School of Molecular and Theoretical Biology is over
The school was held in Pushchino 4–20 August 2015.
Eighty high-school students elected on a competitive basis, including ten students from Spain, and approximately one hundred adults—famous scientists, teachers, and organizers—participated in the school.
How was the fourth season of the Molecular and Theoretical Biology School?
Nobody would answer it better than the participants.
Irina Ponamaryova who participated in the school for the first time writes: “It is funny now that back in March, I doubted whether I should submit an application for the school. I thank everyone who helped to implement a wonderful plan for the biology school—to let ordinary schoolchildren taste real science in two weeks. Everything was top notch. What was really inspiring is that everyone was interested in the project—individually and altogether—the whole community of the biology school. I think I never saw so many people with shining eyes in one place. And now it is so pleasant to look at the red and gray certificate and understand that I am also a part of this community.”
The organizers and participants are positive that the school will be held again in 2016, although Dynasty who supported the school stopped working.
Feodor Kondrashov, an organizer, says, “The school will definitely be held in 2016, although it is not yet clear in what format, in what location, and with which support. We've already begun actively working for it and are full of enthusiasm. Although the school organization will undergo a few changes, we will keep the main principles and philosophy of work.”
The team of organizers and graduates is working to create a community of graduates and to prepare the school for next year.
The new website of the school is now open.
The website contains detailed information about the molecular and theoretical biology school, frequently asked questions about the school, and papers coauthored by participants that were published in scientific journals.
The organizing committee thanks everyone who helped to make the work of the school successful.
