19 May: Eric Maskin, a Nobel Prize winner, will give a public lecture
entitled “How should we elect presidents?”

The lecture will be held in the framework of the Zvi Griliches Memorial Lectures at the New Economic School in Moscow (NES).
In 2001, the International Advisory Board of the NES with the full approval of the entire NES community decided to establish an annual series of lectures in economics in memory of Zvi Griliches. The Zvi Griliches Memorial Lectures are presented by leading scholars and are open to the economic community and the general public in Russia.
Zvi Griliches was one of the founders of the NES in Moscow and one of its main academic architects. Dr. Griliches served as a member of the International Advisory Board of the NES from its inception and often visited the NES. He helped shape the program in econometrics and taught econometrics at the NES to several generations of students.
Dr. Griliches also initiated foreign professors' visits to the NES. His recommendations helped many of the best NES graduates enter leading Western universities for their PhD programs. He was a direct participant and inspiration in establishing the NES.
