Sergei Guriev has become Chair of the Dynasty Foundation Board

Sergei Guriev, Rector of the New Economic School, was elected Chair of the Dynasty Foundation Board on 21 April 2010.

In 1993, Guriev graduated with honors from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. He received a candidate of science degree in 1994 and a doctor of science degree in 2002.
He was a Visiting Scholar in the Department of Economics of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1997/98 and a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at Princeton University in the academic year 2003/04.

Guriev joined the NES in 1998 and became the school's rector in 2004.
He was an Associate Professor of Corporate Finance at the Human Capital Foundation from 2003 to 2006.
Since 2005, he is President of the Centre for Economic and Financial Research (CEFIR) at the NES.

Professor Guriev teaches graduate courses in development economics, microeconomic theory, and contract theory at the NES.

Guriev' s papers are published in Russian and international scientific journals including American Economic Review, Journal of European Economic Association, Journal of Economic Perspectives, American Political Science Review, Voprosy Economiki, Economics and Mathematical Methods, and Matematicheskoe Modelirovanie.

Guriev was awarded gold medals in the Institutional Dimensions of a Market Economy category in 2000 and in the Conflict, Human Security, and Migration category in 2004 by the Global Development Network.
Guriev was named Best Manager of the Russian Academy of Sciences in 2001.
He was selected a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in Davos in 2006.
He was included in the top 100 of the President of Russian Federation Reserve of Management Cadre in 2009.
He is also a member of the board of Sberbank of Russia, the Russian Venture Company, AIZhK (Russian Agency for Home Mortgage Lending), Alfa Strakhovanie (insurance company), and the Dynasty Foundation.
He is a member of the Scientific Council of Bruegel in Brussels, Belgium, a Research Affiliate of the Centre for Economic Policy Research in London, and an editor of the journal Economics of Transition.

Guriev is a writer of the regular columns “Ratio economica” in Vedomosty and “Economist page” in Forbes (Russia) and, since March 2010, co-host of the weekly radio/TV show “Poslezavtra” (Day After Tomorrow) on Ekho Moskvy radio.
