The Dynasty Foundation has supported the work of 50 young biologists

Young biologists specializing in molecular and cellular biology and working in the best laboratories of the country supported by the fundamental research program of the Russian Academy of Sciences Presidium “Molecular and Cellular Biology” (MCB) have received individual grants from the Dynasty Foundation.

The grant amount for one year is 200,000 rubles.

The money allocated by the Dynasty Foundation will significantly soften the 30% budget reduction for the MCB program in 2010 and will defend the most scientifically active, but least socially protected, group of scientists.

The Dynasty grants will allow 50 young scientists to continue and in several cases complete fundamental research.

The goal of the MCB program is to facilitate fundamental research in modern biology by supporting groups led by prominent Russian scientists with grants.
The support is competitively based.
The MCB program is the only academic program acting on the principle of openness and free competition according to criteria accepted in scientifically advanced countries.
The main direction of the MCB program is financing leading groups and laboratories in academic institutes.

Fifty laboratories headed by leading scientists (the ones with the highest impact factors according to the 2009 reports) were selected based on the bibliometric information available to the MCB academic council.
Ten new groups were included in the list of leading laboratories.
The laboratory heads nominated young scientists (graduate students and new candidates of science under thirty) for the one-year Dynasty grants.
The nominated biologists submitted short research plans for the Dynasty competition.
