The Liberal Mission Foundation

The non-profit organization Liberal Mission Scientific Foundation of Theoretical and Applied Research was established in February 2000. The Foundation was created on the basis of the Economic Club aimed at bringing together liberal economists and creating a site for regular communication between supporters of market reforms. The Liberal Mission Foundation subsequently started assembling at its roundtable discussions not only economists but also leading politologists, sociologists and culturologists.

The Foundation's objective is to develop and distribute liberal values and ideas throughout Russia.

In early 2005, the Dynasty Foundation, within the framework of the program for developing civil society in Russia, provided the Liberal Mission with a grant fund in the amount of USD 250,000.

The projects are selected by the Expert Council of the Liberal Mission Foundation. The Council compiles a list of competition topics, approves the terms and conditions of competitions, considers applications, and determines the winners. The Expert Council is chaired by Professor A.A. Kara-Murza, PhD.

In 2005, the book of the Upside Down collection of articles under the aegis of the Liberal Mission was published. The book includes articles by Russian leading journalists and publicists written and published in 2000–2004.
